How to talk to a guy you don't know?

My friend and I like these two guys, and we haven't actually had a real conversation with them. The big problem is that we are graduating this year and if we don't do something now, we wont ever get to know them. Its a generally awkward situation because we took things into our own hands about a month ago by taking the chance and asking them to prom. My friend's guy said yes and they went together, but it was uncomfortable because he didn't talk to her beforehand and not that much at prom. My guy didn't go to prom at all so didn't go with me. After that though, my person told his friends that I did that and I don't know if its a bad or good sign to hear people ask me if I actually asked him. My friend's guy also told his friends and people watched them at prom. We have asked our friend who is friends with both guys for help, he says he will plan a hangout with all of us but that might not be anytime soon. My friend and I need help here! How do you talk to these guys?! My guys is antisocial and doesn't like to leave his house, while hers is social and friends with so many people!
