How can I calm an antisocial kitten?

My parents and I got a new kitten today from an elderly neighbor who could no longer care for her. She had gotten the kitten when she was 7 weeks old, about two weeks ago. She's very energetic and loves to play but does not like to be touched. Believe me when I say my arms can hold testament to this. She seems very frightened of hands in general. I can place my hands in front of her, not doing anything, and she will hiss and spit and attack. I don't want her to be afraid of me. What can I do?
